Rolha Capoeira

1 minute read

The Chicago Dancing Festival recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and, for the first time, featured a capoeira performance by Mestre Marisa’s Gingarte Capoeira that wowed the audience at the West Performance Platform at the Navy Pier.

The Chicago Tribune reported:

Making their debut this year were the capoeira dancers from the Gingarte Capoeira School. Capoeira is a Brazilian martial arts, acrobatic dance form. Consisting of predominantly male dancers. It is led under the tutelage of Maestra Marisa Cordeiro. She is one of the highest-ranking female capoeiristas in the United States. This year also marks the 25th Anniversary of Cultural Capoeira.

Editor’s note: It is actually the 25th anniversary of Gingarte Capoeira, not Cultural Capoeira as stated in the Chicago Tribune article.
