Rolha Capoeira

Mestre Camisa and ABADÁ Capoeira are no stranger to the big stage, but they may have just performed for their biggest audience yet.

The Today Show was in Rio de Janeiro as part of NBC’s extensive coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics, and capoeira got a great look on live television the morning of August 18, 2016. While the brief video comes in at just under 3 minutes, to be featured on one of America’s most popular morning shows is a real triumph for the art: The Today Show routinely reaches 3-5 million viewers and it’s safe to say it’s one of capoeira’s largest audiences ever.

Watch the Today Show’s video, Capoeira: Meet Brazil’s unique blend of martial art and dance, and how “Dalen Cuff of the Olympic Zone learned the basics, getting a feel for the strength and grace the art form requires.”
